The Puglia Pop project was born from the desire
to change the way we think about and tell the
story of the world of Apulia wine.
A nice cold beer at the end of a day – the unmentionable dream of any winemaker who is proud to be so.
A walk on the beach at sunset with salt on the skin after a long day spent on the beach.
A favourite song, listened at maximum volume, singing at the top of one’s voice and every note out of tune.
The soccer game with friends on Wednesday night and then everyone at Ciro’s bar.

The freshly baked croissants, eaten at dawn on the vineyard during harvest days.

VINEYARDS: DO THE THINGS YOU LOVE AND LAUGH
Four hectares of vineyards in Martina Franca, located in the highest altitude area, 450 meters above sea level: these soils, suitable for white grapes and with perfect climatic conditions, made this area crucial for Apulian oenology, with one of the oldest appellations in Italy and Europe, Locorotondo DOC.
For Primitivo di Manduria we strongly wanted very ancient vines, making a choice against the trend. We are going to tell you a secret: these vines are no longer in use, nobody cultivates them anymore.
The reason? They have a low yield, mechanical harvesting processes cannot be used and consequently a great involvement of manpower is required. Despite all these difficulties, we chose them to make our dreams come true.

Our cellar is located in the middle of the vineyards in Contrada Ferrari in Martina Franca. In an area of 500 square meters there are the processing area, storage, bottling, barrique area and a small lab.
Other three hundred square meters are destined to conviviality and being together: space for pure entertainment, music, aperitifs, on fantastic terraces overlooking the Itria Valley. The space where to enjoy wine that brings people together, the place where to spend fantastic evenings to the rhythm of the tarantella!
And then there are the vineyards, undisputed queens of our company.
Imagine a walk in the middle of the vineyard, a picnic bag, two glasses and a bottle cold enough, the hand of your loved one and around you a wonderful countryside, among trulli, dry stone walls and prickly pears.

Apulia for me is a feeling, it is an expression of mood, it is joy, it is carefree, it is warmth and colour, it is the Mediterranean soul of us people of Latin origin. The Puglia Pop project was born in this land and developed as a sort of break from everything we experienced so far in the world of wine.
I am Hugo Rojo de Castro, Spanish but Apulian by adoption for about 20 years. With the Puglia Pop project I tell the story of the change occurred in the last years in this land that I love and that I feel as mine.
Puglia Pop was born with four different types of wine that represent a portion of the soul of Apulia and its most important and most international vines. In addition to the tradition and authenticity of these wines, we wanted to add names that evoke the Apulian territory, but in its most colourful, cheerful and popular way.

Il progetto Puglia Pop è nato dalla voglia di cambiare il modo di pensare e raccontare il mondo del vino pugliese.
Una bella birra fredda a termine di una giornata – il sogno inconfessabile di qualsiasi viticoltore che si vanta di esserlo.
Una passeggiata sulla spiaggia al tramonto con il sale sulla pelle, dopo un lungo giorno di mare.
La canzone preferita, ascoltata a tutto volume cantando a squarciagola e stonando qualsiasi nota.
La partita di calcio con gli amici del mercoledì sera e poi tutti al bar di Ciro.

Quattro ettari di vigneti a Martina Franca, situati nella zona più alta, a 450 mt sul livello del mare: questi terreni, idonei per l’uva bianca e con condizioni pedoclimatiche perfette, hanno reso questa zona cruciale per l’enologia Pugliese, con una delle denominazioni più antiche d’Italia ed Europa, La DOC Locorotondo.
Quando abbiamo deciso di produrre vino abbiamo scelto questa zona e abbiamo fortemente voluto vitigni antichissimi, facendo una scelta in controtendenza. Infatti vi sveliamo un segreto: questi vitigni sono in disuso, nessuno li coltiva più.
Perché producono pochissimo, perché non si possono meccanizzare, perché per lavorarli bene ci vuole manodopera, perché ci vuole un grande impegno economico.
Abbiamo scelto loro per dar corpo ai nostri sogni.

La nostra cantina è situata in mezzo ai vigneti in Contrada Ferrari a Martina Franca.
In una superficie di 500 mq sono riunite la zona di trasformazione, stoccaggio, imbottigliamento, zona barrique e piccolo laboratorio.
Altri trecento invece sono destinati alla convivialità e allo stare insieme: spazio per il puro divertimento, la musica, l’aperitivo, su terrazze fantastiche che dominano la Valle D’Itria.
Lo spazio dove godere del vino che unisce, il posto per passare delle fantastiche serate al ritmo della taranta!
E poi ci sono loro: le vigne, regine indiscusse della nostra azienda.
Immaginate una passeggiata in mezzo alla vigna, una borsetta de picnic, due bicchieri e una bottiglia fredda al punto giusto, la mano della persona amata e intorno a te una campagna meravigliosa, fra trulli, muretti a secco e fichi d’india.
Venite a trovarci quando volete, basta solo una telefonata!

Il progetto Puglia Pop è nato dalla voglia di cambiare il modo di pensare e raccontare il mondo del vino pugliese.
Non doveva essere solo una semplice rottura delle regole estetiche ma dovevamo cercare di costruire un nuovo paradigma: raccontare il vino di questa regione facendo leva sui valori e sulle credenze dei pugliesi, sul loro stato d’animo e sul loro pensiero estremamente non convenzionale, che li ha resi nel tempo “un pop-olo capace di credere a draghi e a maghi ma razionali nel profondo”.
